"Why Thinking Your Way Through Has Never Worked — And What to Do Instead"

Have you ever made a decision that made complete logical sense — ticked every box, looked perfect on paper, got the nod of approval from everyone around you — and yet something in your body quietly, persistently said no?
And then you ignored it. Because your mind had a very convincing argument. Because it was the sensible thing to do. Because you did not want to seem irrational or difficult or ungrateful.
And then later — maybe weeks, maybe years later — you found yourself thinking: I knew it..I actually knew all along.
Sounds familiar?
I thought so.
You are not alone in that. And you are not crazy. In fact, that quiet knowing you overrode? That was not irrationality. That was your body doing exactly what it was designed to do. Telling you the truth. Before your mind had even caught up.
We Were Taught to Think Our Way Through Everything
From the time we were small, we were rewarded for using our minds. For being logical. For having reasons. For making sense. The brain became the authority — the trusted source of all good decisions. And the body? The body was just the vehicle. Something to manage, to push through, to quiet down when it got too loud.

We became very, very good at thinking. And somewhere along the way, we lost the ability to feel.
And I get it — I genuinely do. The mind is brilliant. It is analytical, it is fast, it is incredibly good at building a case. But here is what I have come to believe deeply, both through my own life and through years of sitting with clients in their most honest, unguarded moments:
The mind was made for logic. But logic alone will never lead you home.
What Science Actually Says About This
Here is something that stopped me in my tracks when I first truly understood it — and I think it might do the same for you.
Your subconscious mind drives approximately 95% of everything you do. Your breathing, your digestion, your habits, your automatic responses — yes. But also your beliefs about yourself, your patterns in relationships, your emotional responses, your sense of what is safe and what is not.
Ninety-five percent...
That means the conscious, thinking, analysing mind that you have been trusting to figure everything out? It is working with about five percent of what is actually running the show.
And that subconscious mind — your body, your nervous system, your lived experience — it holds everything. Every unprocessed emotion you did not have the space or safety to feel at the time. Every belief you formed as a child to make sense of the world around you. Every story you told yourself about who you are, what you deserve, whether you are enough, whether it is safe to be fully yourself.
Those stories were not random. They were genius, actually — created by a young mind trying to belong, to be loved, to stay safe. Your subconscious did exactly what it was supposed to do.
The question is just this: is it still serving you now?
The Body Holds What the Mind Cannot Say
I became a Kinesiologist because I believe — with everything I have — that the body holds the keys to so many of the things we spend years trying to think our way out of.
Kinesiology is not something I can fully explain in words, because honestly, it is something you have to feel to understand. But let me try to describe it as honestly as I can.
Imagine lying on a table, and rather than talking through your problems or analysing your patterns, your body gets to speak. Through gentle muscle testing — a technique that communicates directly with the subconscious — we ask your body what it knows. And it answers.

Not what you think you should feel. Not what makes logical sense. Not the story you have been rehearsing for years. What is actually there, underneath all of it.
I have sat with clients who came in convinced they were fine — who left with tears streaming down their face and a sense of relief so profound they could not find words for it. Not because something bad happened in the session. Because something true happened. Because their body finally got to say the thing that had been sitting there, unspoken, sometimes for decades.
That is what I mean when I say the body holds the keys.
What It Actually Feels Like
One of my clients — a woman who, from the outside, had a beautiful life — came to me because she could not stop feeling anxious. She had tried everything. She had read the books, done the journalling, talked it through with people she trusted. And still, every morning, the anxiety was there waiting for her.
Within one session of Kinesiology, her body pointed us directly to a belief she had been carrying since childhood. A belief that said: if I am not needed, I will be left. She had never said those words out loud. She had not even consciously known they were there. But her body knew. Her body had been organising her entire life around that one quiet, devastating belief.
She cried. Then she laughed. Then she said: "I have known this my whole life and I didn't know I knew it."
That is the work. That is what becomes possible when we stop trying to think our way to freedom and start letting the body lead.
So What Do I Do Instead?
I come back to my body. Again and again and again.
When I am facing a decision that my mind is very busy debating, I stop. I breathe. I put my hand on my heart and I simply ask — what does this feel like? Not what does it look like. Not what should I do. What does it feel like?
And I have learned — sometimes the hard way — to trust that answer. Even when my mind has a very compelling counter-argument. Even when the feeling does not make logical sense. Even when it is inconvenient or uncomfortable or not what I was hoping for.
Because my body has never lied to me. My mind, on the other hand, has talked me out of some of the most important truths of my life...
You Already Know
Here is what I want to leave you with.
You already know. You have always known. There is a part of you — quieter than your thoughts, older than your patterns, wiser than the stories you have been telling yourself — that has the answers you have been looking for.
The work is not about finding something new. It is about coming back to something ancient. Coming back to your body. Coming back to yourself.
And if you are ready to start that conversation — I would love to be there when you do.
Kinesiology sessions available in person in West End, Brisbane, and online. If you are curious about what a session might feel like for you, reach out anytime — I am always happy to have a gentle, no-pressure chat.
